Kayley & Cameron’s Adoption Journey

Adoption is a journey. In these features, we give hopeful adoptive families the space to share what they’ve learned, what they’ve struggled with, and what keeps them going. We’re so happy to introduce you to Kayley & Cameron.

Tell us about yourself and how you made your way to PairTree?

Cameron and Kayley have been together for nearly 11 years, married for over 6. We both come from large families and are excited about growing our own!

We love to travel! Kayley’s sister, brother in law, and their two kids live in Las Vegas; we visited them most recently.

What has surprised you about this process – good and/or bad?

The wait is so hard! We have been ready for kids for nearly 3 years, but started the adoption process more recently.

We have a total of 10 animals on our little pet farm!

What do you think is misunderstood about adoption?

Adoption being a “last resort”. Kayley has always wanted to adopt a child, which Cameron came around the idea within the last couple of years. We both are very excited and hope you are our match!

Ghost and Pepper cannot wait to have a child of their own to play with!

Who are your biggest supporters? Who can you always turn to?

Our families are incredibly supportive. They are all thrilled to have a new little one join the family! Our friends circle is also extremely encouraging and ask for updates all the time.

Meeting our new nephew, Reggie, while in Las Vegas.

Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?

In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.

How often do you cry? (Seriously…)

Kayley cries a couple times a month on average. Cameron only cries when something catastrophic occurs, which thankfully is few and far between.

What you are most proud of – so far – in this process?

Cameron and Kayley feel their relationship has only grown stronger during this process. It’s very stressful and emotional, but we lean on one another whenever needed.

What scares you the most about this process — and why?

The scariest part for us right now is the unknown. Not knowing who with or when we may be marched is tough!

If you had a magic wand, what would you like to change most about this process?

The wait! It’s hard to be patient sometimes.
