Erin & Curtis’s Adoption Journey

Adoption is a journey. In these features, we give hopeful adoptive families the space to share what they’ve learned, what they’ve struggled with, and what keeps them going. We’re so happy to introduce you to Erin & Curtis.

Tell us about yourself and how you made your way to PairTree?

We are Erin and Curtis Cornell. We have been married for almost 7 years and are ready to grow our family by way of adoption!

We came across PairTree through a google search.

What has surprised you about this process – good and/or bad?

We are surprised just how many babies there are out there needing a home and how many brave mamas there are our there! We are ready to invite one of them in our family!

What do you think is misunderstood about adoption?

I believe the thing that’s misunderstood about adoption is just how Emotionally draining it can be.

Who are your biggest supporters? Who can you always turn to?

My husband is my biggest supporter! We are also blessed with a huge family who will always be apart of our child’s life!

Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?

My favorite quote would be “live each day like it’s your last”. Not a day is guaranteed and to be able to live each day like it was your last is the way I try to live my life.

How often do you cry? (Seriously…)

I cry usually about once a month!

What you are most proud of – so far – in this process?

I am most proud of the fact that I have started this process and can not wait to see what the future has to hold! We are so grateful to be in this position and give a baby an amazing life!

What scares you the most about this process — and why?

The thing that scares me most is the disappointments. Which we are aware is apart of the process!

If you had a magic wand, what would you like to change most about this process?

Honestly I wouldn’t change anything about this process. I know it’s a long and difficult one but I also know that in the end of the day it’ll be so worth it!
