Talia & Will’s Adoption Journey

Adoption is a journey. In these features, we give hopeful adoptive families the space to share what they’ve learned, what they’ve struggled with, and what keeps them going. We’re so happy to introduce you to Talia & Will.

Tell us about yourself and how you made your way to PairTree?

We’ve always known that we wanted to have a family someday and decided to adopt back in 2016. Our daughter was born in 2017, she has changed our lives forever. We are truly blessed to have had such a positive experience with her birth mother. We now want to expand our family even further and our daughter can’t wait to be a big sister. We were recommended Pairtree this time around and decided to pursue and give it a try.

What has surprised you about this process – good and/or bad?

Lots of things, but mostly how natural everything feels. There is so much support and resources for both birth parents and adoptive parents.

What do you think is misunderstood about adoption?

I think it is misunderstood that adopting a child will never be the same as having a biological child. We adopted our daughter in 2017, it was such incredible experience. I can’t imagine having a biological child and loving them anymore than I love my daughter. I know that she is adopted but I honestly forget sometimes.

Who are your biggest supporters? Who can you always turn to?

Our biggest supporters are our family, They were there to support us before and are eager to meet the next new addition to our family.

Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.

How often do you cry? (Seriously…)

I can honestly say that i cry about 2 times each month.

What you are most proud of – so far – in this process?

All the positive support and options that there are to help reach to help get you through your adoption process.

What scares you the most about this process — and why?

What scares me the most about adoption is the wait and the not knowing,

If you had a magic wand, what would you like to change most about this process?

If i had a magic wand I would change the costs. There are so many lovely people out there that would love to adopt and cannot financially afford to do so.
